PROBLEM:
The goal of the contest is development of robots capable of performing specific tasks in safest, fastest and efficient way possible.
A Ground Robot on the ground shall take the balls as shown in the arena to the goal post. Hurdles stand in the way, including obstruction by the other team’s robot.
ARENA: STRUCTURE AND SPECIFICATIONS
The competition arena has two starting positions for robots and they are destined to put the placed balls in the goal. Winner will be decided on the basis of the goals they have done.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
•Each match will be contested by two teams.
•The ground robot of a team can move out of the start zone only when they are said to start by the coordinator present there.
•In case any of the teams start earlier some time penalty (specified later) will be imposed.
•The ground robot of one team can obstruct the path of the other, provided no weapons of any sort are used, i.e. just by physical contact.
•The balls are to be moved till goal just by means of physical contact, no grippers are allowed.
•At any stage of the game, the ground robot should be within the specified arena otherwise 5 points will be deducted.
•Only one time out of 90 seconds will be given to a team if required amidst the match, but at the cost of time penalty of 25 seconds. (Valid for preliminary as well as knockout rounds)
COMPETITION TASKS:
The Ground Robot has to carry and place the balls (positioned) in the goal and the winner will be decided on the basis of number of goals.
Conditions and points to watch out for in designing and manufacturing Robots
The Ground Robot must be able to fit inside a box with dimensions of 25cm X 25cm X 25cm and weigh less than 3 kg.
No AC power supply will be provided. However in case of onboard power supply, the machine along with the power supply should fit in the above mentioned dimension box.
The machine must use only mechanical power or mechanical power converted from a source of electrical energy.
During the game the machine is allowed to expand its parts provided it does not damage the arena in any way.
The machine must be controlled by wired/wireless remote control mechanism at all stages of the game.
For wireless mechanism the teams are advised to have dual frequency remote control to avoid frequency interference.
In case of wired mechanism the wire must be slack at all point of time during the game. Please ensure a fairly long wire considering the arena dimensions. The participant must also make sure that wires do not entangle with the opponents wire.
The machine should not leave spare parts in the arena at any stage. This can lead to a time penalty or may even lead to disqualification.
GENERAL RULES:
•Each team must declare a name for their machine at the time of competition.
•The machines you build will be first checked for size and safety. The machine should not cause electric power breakdowns.
•The machine must not contain any combustible, corrosive, or otherwise dangerous materials for safety reasons. No explosive compression or decompression, either internal or external is permitted.
•Judges have the right to disqualify any machine whose working mechanism or game strategy is considered hazardous in any way.
•In case any kind of dispute arises the judges’ decision will be considered final and binding to all and no argument will be entertained.
STRUCTURE OF THE TOURNAMENT:
The tournament will be held on a knockout basis of top 10-15 teams as decided through preliminary round.
For the preliminary round, the teams will have to complete all tasks in the arena.
For the knockout round, teams will be ranked in order of their respective time taken to do all tasks.
The match finishes as soon as all the balls are placed in the goal.
The team which takes less time to complete the tasks, at the end of the match, will be declared the winner.
The match may be stopped in between if the referees judge that continuation of the match is impossible.
TIEBREAKER:
In the case of tiebreak the teams will be given a penalty shootout.
Note: You can obstruct the other team’s robot just when the game begins.
DISQUALIFICATION:
During the match, the team members are not allowed to touch the machine or the arena. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
Any kind of damage to the arena will attract disqualification.
The teams will be asked to get ready 5 minutes before the start of the match. If a team is not ready within the stipulated time, the other team will be declared as the winner.
Judges have the right to disqualify any team if they feel the team is not playing with fair interests.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
As soon as any changes in rules are made they will be uploaded on the website.
The organizers have the right to modify any of the above rules without prior notice to the participants.
All the dimensions given above are subjected to minor tolerances.
